Introduction
Our group has a combined total of over 18 years experience in the classroom and harnesses a wealth of knowledge that is applicable to various grade levels. As each of us are currently working in lower elementary settings, the target audience of our learning modules is primary teachers, specifically those teaching grades PreK-3, and their students. Our learning modules are based on the Learning 2.0 Program developed by Helene Blowers. The program was originally designed to provide an individualized training program for library staff to explore new 2.0 web tools. It is our hope that our modules will provide the same learning opportunity for classroom teachers. We are preparing this training for primary teachers in hopes that they use the tools to build their own personal learning network (PLN) and also to integrate some of these technologies into their lesson plans and projects. In an ever-evolving profession we feel it is important for educators to be connected, informed, and up-to-date on current educational practices and tools. With an increase in emerging technologies we feel it is also important for teachers to have an basic understanding of technology tools and the confidence to use, or attempt to use, the tools in their teaching practice. This training is equally important for our students who are growing up in a technological world. It is our responsibility as educators to facilitate learning in ways that will help students increase their knowledge and skills of web 2.0 tools, allowing them to be connected individuals who carry positive digital footprints throughout their lives.
